Evaluation 3
What type of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
When researching the different types of film distributors, I mainly focused on analysing the 'Big Six' which include 20th Century Fox, Walt Disney, Universal Studios, Paramount, Warner Bros. and Columbia Pictures. These distributors collectively command approximately 80-85% of the US and Canadian box office revenue. I found that Twentieth Century Fox distribute many thriller, dramas and action films which is why I think my film might be distributed by them. Films such as Gone Girl and Black Swan, which fall under the crime/drama/mystery genre are distributed by Twentieth Century Fox and this film earned a lot more than their estimated budget which shows that they appeal to a larger scale audience.
However, on the other hand I also think that Universal Studios could distribute my film as they are another successful institution that distributes many outstanding films but of a range of genres such as comedy, action, dramas, horror and also children's films. Some examples are Girl On The Train, Fast and Furious 7, Sing, Minions and Ouija: Origin of Evil. From this it is evident that they do not distribute certain genres and aim to reach a wider demographic in order to appeal to all types of audiences. Hence why I believe that it would be a suitable idea for a distributor like Universal Studios to distribute my media product.

Feedback
Here are some screenshots that I collected from Whatsapp Chats of feedback from family and friends about my final media product:
Editing Titles
For creating my titles I used Premiere Pro to edit the transitioning of it as it came on and off the screen; i made the titles look as if they were being typed onto the actual screen in which I thought would link really well with the narrative of my film. Here are some examples of what I decided the titles to look like:

Editing audio
With more and more practice of audio editing, i included 2 more audio layers that included sound effects and a voiceover. At first i found it quite challenging to edit it in as i had to make sure that the audio was accurately in sync with the actions going on in certain scenes. I was also able to adjust the volume levels at different parts of the sequence.

Editing
Here is a snippet of my opening sequence editing, using Adobe Premiere Pro. It takes a lot of accuracy to get each scene to flow therefore I had to carefully put together each clip and cut the bits I did not necessarily need.
Script - Celtx
Below I have inserted the link to my script which I created, before filming, using Celtx:

Questionnaire

By carrying out further research i conducted a questionnaire in which I asked a group of 16-18 year olds about what they would expect in a mystery/drama film. These results will help me with the construction of my media product in order for me to gain an insight on my target audience would like to see. I found out the types of fonts, colour associations and what types of features people found important when it comes to the opening title sequence. Below i have included the results I collected from the questionnaire:
Age range:
- Most of the people asked chose the 16-20 age range and the rest chose 21+; therefore for my main protagonist I will decide for them to be around the age of an older teenager/young adult
- The majority of the answers were black, brown, grey so I will therefore make sure to include a dull, greyscale colour theme in order to follow the conventions of a mystery/drama genre
- All the people chose either the 2nd or the 4th font, which shows that they would expect the opening titles to be bold yet simple at the same time and no too animated. Therefore when creating the opening titles for my opening sequence i will try to keep the font simple but still eye catching, perhaps through the transition effects of it as well.
- For this question 100% of the students asked said that sounds effects are very important in an opening sequence for a mystery/drama film, however they did not think that dialogue was as important. I agree with this as the sound effects help to set the scene and build up the tension from the very start however i will also try to include some dialogue, maybe even a voiceover.

Narrative Draft 2
From watching many other mystery drama films, I decided to add more to the narrative as I was encouraged to include a double twist within the film. Watching other films inspired me to experiment with similar ideas and creating my own to include for the narrative.

Narrative
Here is the main narrative (Draft 1) that I will be basing my title sequence off so that I can pick some main parts and include it in scenes for when I film the task.

Font Styles

Here are some examples of fonts that I plan to use for my title sequence. For a start I used a potential name for my film to experiment with fonts - 'Delusion'. I chose these fonts as they look like they would be used in mystery drama films. For example, in Gone Girl, the font was plain and simple yet still quite eye catching due to the transition and animations of it.
