Match On Action

Match on action is an editing technique for continuity editing in which one shot cuts to another shot portraying the action of the subject in the first shot. This creates the impression of a sense of continuity - the action carrying through creates a 'visual bridge' which draws the viewer's attention away from slight cutting or continuity issues.
I successfully achieved the Match On Action shots in this task when filming the 'opening the door' scene. The movement of the opening of the door flowed really well together in this scene.

180 Degree Rule/Shot-Reverse Shot

The 180 degree rule is a filming guideline that participants in a scene should have the same left-right relationship to each other, with filming only taking place within the 180 degree angle in which this is maintained in a conversation. Here are a couple of examples of my 180 degree rule and Shot/Reverse shot that I filmed in my Preliminary Exercise. I decided to film on the right side of my main character the whole way through. This allows the audience to have a greater sense of location in the scene in terms off screen in some shots, for example in Shot/Reverse Shots.

Preliminary Exercise - Video

My aim for today is to finish off editing my video where i will be adding in background music and adding transition effects between some shots.

Here is an example of when i tried to add sound effects to some of my scenes and tried to decided what sounds effect would work best with particular scenes.
